How to connect your Apple Calendar

  1. Navigate to the Apps & Integrations page and go to Apple Calendar
  2. Click the Connect button, enter your Apple ID and App-Specific Password, then click Submit
  3. When connected, your calendars will be automatically selected for booking conflicts. And if it’s the first calendar integration, it will be used as default for auto add events to primary calendar. To connect an additional calendar, click Add Another and follow the connection steps again

How to automatically add booked events to connected calendar

  1. Navigate to Calendar Settings or go to Apple Calendar integration page
  2. Make sure the switch is turned on for Auto add events for your default calendar
  3. Select the desired calendar where you want to auto add events from the dropdown menu

How to customize event name in your calendar

You can customize how events appear in your connected calendar for each event type separately.
  1. Go to Event Types page and select the event type you want to customize
  2. Navigate to the Preferences tab
  3. In the calendar event name field, you can write a custom name. The default format is: {{EVENT_DURATION}} meeting: {{HOST_NAME}} and {{BOOKER_NAME}}
Available variables:
  • EVENT_TYPE_NAME - The name of the event type
  • HOST_NAME - The name of the person who is hosting the event
  • BOOKER_NAME - The name of the person who booked the event
  • EVENT_DURATION - Event duration (e.g., 30 minutes, 1 hour)

How to customize event description in your calendar

The description is the body of the calendar event. By default it holds the answers the booker gave, and the links to reschedule and to cancel.
  1. Go to Event Types page and select the event type you want to customize
  2. Navigate to the Preferences tab
  3. Write your own text in the Event Description Template field
Available variables:
  • FORM_ANSWERS - All booking form questions and their answers
  • ATTENDEES - Names and emails of the hosts, the booker and the guests
  • LOCATION - The meeting link or the address
  • RESCHEDULE_URL - Link to reschedule the booking
  • CANCEL_URL - Link to cancel the booking
  • EVENT_TYPE_NAME, HOST_NAME, BOOKER_NAME and EVENT_DURATION also work here
If your event type does not allow rescheduling or cancellation, the related variable stays empty and Novacal removes the whole line. No empty label is left behind.

Invitees and reminders in Apple Calendar

When Novacal adds a booking to your Apple Calendar, the event carries:
  • The invitees. You appear as the organizer, and the booker and any guests appear as participants. A participant who has not replied shows a question mark, which is normal.
  • A reminder. It fires at the same time as the reminder email Novacal sends you. If you have set more than one reminder on the event type, the event carries one alert for each.
Apple does not add its own default alert to an event it receives from Novacal, so the alert you see is the one Novacal wrote.

How to remove connected Apple Calendar account
